Overview & Significance
Akwasidae is the central festival of the Ashanti Kingdom, held every 42 days at the
Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. It is a day dedicated to ancestral veneration, reflection,
and celebrating the living culture of the Ashanti people.
WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE
1. Royal Durbar: Witness His Majesty the Asantehene sit in state to receive homage.
2. Sacred Drumming: Hear the mighty Fontomfrom and talking drums tell oral histories.
3. Regalia & Gold: See state sword bearers and court officials adorned in pure gold.

1. What to Wear: Modest, respectful clothing. Kente or dark formal wear is appreciated.
2. Arrival Time: Aim for 8:30 AM to clear security and settle into guest seating.
